romcoms perfect for autumn

You’ve got Mail

Is there any better movie to watch this time of year? This Nora Ephron classic shares how early technology still somehow felt romantic. This is Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks at their best, from the music to New York being its own main character, give this a watch or rewatch this season.

One Fine Day

This is one of my forever favourite movies and I have no idea why it’s such an underdog of the romcom genre as I genuinely think it’s one of the best. Set over the course of one fall, rainy day. Nothing makes me feel more cozy than watching Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney banter back and forth. I love this one so much.

When Harry Met Sally

Can single men and women be friends without romantic feelings forming, that at its core is what When Harry Met Sally is trying to answer and I don’t think there is a better movie with the friends to lovers trope. Iconic for a reason, I could honestly watch this one repeat, it’s so heartwarming.

Sleepless In Seattle

In Autumn and Winter I try to read and watch as many things set in Seattle as I can. I have no idea why but Seattle seems like the definition of the fall season in a state. I think growing up I just watched so many cozy things set at this time of year there that I associate it with the season so much. This is just the sweetest, loveliest movie and one of the most iconic last scenes in romcom history, surely!

Hope Floats

Not necessarily set in this season but there is something just so cozy and heartwarming about this movie. It feels so 90’s and nostalgic and personally for me I don’t think anyone does romcoms like 90’s Sandra Bullock, she is so perfect in this role. This is a classic Sunday afternoon movie, curled up with a hot drink and a blanket.
